Annual MIT Microbiome Symposium 2024
Since 2016, the annual MIT Microbiome Symposium has brought together scientists of all career stages across academia and industry for a day of talks, posters, and discussions about microbiomes of all kinds. The 2024 symposium (held on March 22nd) featured keynote presentations from Dr. Emrah Altindis (Boston College) and Dr. Sophie McCoy (University of North Carolina), as well as flash talk presentations by trainees and a scientific poster session. This year’s symposium also featured a panel discussion “Equitable Performance of Global Microbiome Research”, with panelists from scientific and advocacy organizations that outlined strategies for positive and equitable collaboration between researchers across the globe. With over 200 in-person and over 300 online registrants, this was the largest event put on by the MIT Microbiome Club and CMIT annually.
